STS-118 August 8, 2007
Second launch of this series. I'd never seen a Shuttle launch produce a cloud like the previous shot (STS-117) did, and then it turned right around and did something eerily similar on the very next shot. Photos taken from the Pineda Causeway on the Banana River, looking west after sunset. All shots are presented in the order in which they were taken, and differences in lightness or darkness of the sky are a result of differing exposure settings. Many of the shots were very low light, and are grainy as a result. In the shots with a visible horizon below the sky, you an watch the lights coming on, one-by-one, across the river as the ambient light fails, progressing through the sequence. Photos were taken hand-held with a Nikon D40 using the standard 18-55mm zoom lens that comes with it along with a 70-300mm zoom lens.
